The Future Is In the Hands of the Youth

We tend to protectively plan and invest in our future while failing to ignore that the greatest investment we can make is in our youth. Before we know it, in the not too distant future, our decision making and leadership influence will be in the hands of our youth. It is then we will be looking to them for direction, with hope that their vision and leadership will positively impact our lives.


Reasonably, it's understood that as parents, grandparents, and the next door neighbor we should be investing quality time with our youth to prepare them to manage their lives, and also to instill within them the ability to dream, to believe in and reach for their dreams.

We must teach them that it's impossible to accomplish their dreams without taking risk. We must teach them that falling short of accomplishing their dreams doesn't make them a failure. Instead, it makes them a champion because they took risk and stood up against their fears. We must teach them that with each attempt to stretch and reach beyond their comfort zone, they become stronger and wiser so that as they shoot for the moon, they will land among the stars.

We need to quit harnessing our youth because of our own disappointments and let them run their own race with all the cheer and encouragement they deserve. We need to let them dream their dreams, discover and fulfill their potential and travel their journey.

We need to help them soar high above our own limiting beliefs. We need to teach them to develop their imagination because deep inside the heart of the young is their journey waiting to be discovered and fulfilled.

Let us not be guilty of shaping them into the purposes we feel we missed. Let us not repeat the same pattern that hindered us from becoming all that we could be. Let us not hold them back from dreaming and taking risk.

We need to teach them that with God and diligence all things are possible and that they can accomplish more than we could have dreamed possible for them. This is the best way to invest in our future for some day our future will be in their hands.
